Services
David Eaton Associates is a landscape and garden design practice specialising in the creation of considered outdoor spaces, from intimate urban gardens and rooftop terraces to expansive country estates.
Working closely with clients, architects and other design professionals, we develop landscapes that respond to their architectural context, natural surroundings and the individual requirements of each property.
Our services range from individual garden consultations and bespoke planting schemes to comprehensive landscape masterplanning and complete garden design. Whether undertaking a complete landscape transformation or enhancing an established garden, we bring the same considered approach to every commission.
Landscape Architecture & Masterplanning
We develop comprehensive landscape masterplans that establish a cohesive vision for a property, carefully considering the relationship between buildings, gardens and the wider landscape.
Our approach begins with an understanding of the site’s natural characteristics, architectural context and the client’s ambitions. Through site analysis, conceptual studies and spatial planning, we explore opportunities to enhance the property’s setting, establish meaningful connections and create a considered sequence of outdoor spaces.
Our experience also extends to the transformation of former farms and agricultural properties, developing masterplans that reimagine these landscapes for residential use while respecting their rural character, existing features and natural setting.
From the positioning of new buildings and the organisation of circulation to the integration of formal gardens, naturalistic landscapes and outdoor amenities, our masterplans provide the framework for both immediate improvements and long-term development.
Garden Design
We offer a comprehensive garden design service, taking projects from the initial concept through detailed design and construction to create distinctive outdoor spaces that complement the architecture of the home.
Our work encompasses urban gardens, rooftop terraces, courtyards and country gardens, alongside swimming pools, outdoor kitchens, entertaining terraces and bespoke garden structures.
Each design is developed around the individual character of the property and the way our clients wish to live. Through careful consideration of proportion, materials, levels, views and planting, we create a sequence of spaces that balance architectural structure with the natural qualities of the garden.
Our involvement extends throughout the project, from conceptual drawings and three-dimensional visualisations to material selection, construction documentation and coordination with contractors, specialist fabricators and nurseries. During construction, we provide ongoing design oversight to ensure the original vision is faithfully realised.
Planting Design
Planting is integral to our design approach, bringing structure, texture, seasonal interest and a sense of place to every landscape.
We develop bespoke planting schemes for both new and established gardens, from restrained architectural compositions and formal gardens to richly layered perennial borders, orchards, meadows and naturalistic woodland landscapes.
Whether commissioned as part of a comprehensive landscape masterplan or as an independent service to enhance an existing garden, each scheme is carefully considered in relation to its architectural setting, environmental conditions and the client’s individual preferences.
Our approach combines horticultural knowledge with a strong design sensibility, creating planting compositions that evolve throughout the seasons and mature beautifully over time.
Garden Consultations
For clients seeking professional guidance without undertaking a comprehensive landscape design, we offer individual garden consultations tailored to the needs of each property.
Whether considering improvements to an established garden, exploring the potential of a new property or seeking advice on planting, layout and materials, our consultations provide an opportunity to discuss ideas and identify possibilities.
Following an assessment of the site and the client’s objectives, we offer practical design recommendations and a considered direction for future improvements. Consultations can provide independent guidance or serve as the starting point for a more extensive design commission.
